On Monday, library staff and patrons were treated to a read-aloud by local children’s author Rebecca O’Connell. Rebecca read from her just-released picture book Danny is Done with Diapers: A Potty A B C. Writing an A B C book can be a challenge, especially when your subject is the potty, but Rebecca soared over every hurdle, including the ever-daunting letter X. A family storytime was co-presented by Rebecca and Kathy Maron-Wood and a soap-making craft was supervised by Laura Knouff. Julie Kant handled Danny sales and lucky families walked away with copies of the book personally signed by the author. A basket containing the book and potty-training essentials (thoughtfully provided by Rebecca) was raffled off. A Best Books for Babies gift basket, provided by Tess Riesmeyer and Beginning with Books will be raffled off at the conclusion of the March Diaper Drive. When you see Rebecca be sure to congratulate her on her latest publication (yes, she is the same Rebecca O’Connell, librarian, who works in the Children’s Department) and reserve a library copy of Danny or buy a copy at your local bookstore. The book makes an inspiring gift for a toddler or preschooler contemplating the big move from diapers to underpants.
