Gigantic Rubber Duckie, you’re the one…

On Friday, a giant rubber duckie floated on the Allegheny River. Cue the obligatory Ernie singing “Rubber Duckie” getting stuck in my head, followed closely by “Put Down the Duckie.” (My sister got that one stuck in her head during a job interview. Must have been fun.) Anya Sostek has a short history of rubber duckies in the Post-Gazette, complete with thoughts from the ToonSeum‘s Joe Wos.

I have a feeling King Bidgood* would enjoy that rubber duckie, while gleefully singing, “I’m still here in the bathtub…“**

*For a fun King Bidgood storytime activity, kids can create Bingo cards with pictures of possible bathtime toys.

**Sung to the tune of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.”
