We’ve got free tickets for Emily Arnold McCully!

Emily Arnold McCully is coming to Pittsburgh courtesy of Black, White, and Read All Over. It’s the last lecture in the series for this season.

Well, I say lecture, and technically it is, but that word has a bad rap! Words like “stern” often preceed it and in the case of these presentations it is completely the wrong word to express what really goes on. The authors are engaging speakers who share their work and their processes with their audience in ways that are funny, inspiring, friendly, entertaining, encouraging, and so much more. It’s a great memory for everyone and some of the best family entertainment in the city.

Plus, we have cookies.

Plus, she’s an illustrator, so she’ll bring pictures! Maybe she’ll even draw or paint for us as part of her presentation. She’ll autograph her books, too. You can bring your old, beloved copies or buy a new book there. (Or both.)I know I’ll bring mine for her to sign. I can’t wait to meet Emily Arnold McCully!

Emily Arnold McCully’s characters are wonderfully appealing and inspiring! In an interview with Nancy Castaldo, she says that she “like[s] most of all to write about brave, persevering girls overcoming their gender disadvantages in ways that today’s girls, pretty free of those handicaps, can understand imaginatively” She adds, “But anybody with courage and curiosity appeals to me.”
