More poetry for April

I love this poem!  You’ll find it in Never Take a Pig to Lunch and other poems about the fun of eating selected by Nadine Bernard Westcott.  It’s called “I am Learning.”

I am learning

to move my chop

sticks                        through

the vegetables             and

meat

and                 through

the oriental                              treat

we have

tonight

but      in

between        my

smiles and bites   i

write a       message

in the      sweet         and

sour

pork

i

need

a

fork

by Arnold Adoff

As much as I try to use chopsticks the proper way, I’ve never been very good at using them.  This poem certainly makes me feel better!
