Shakespeare Monologue & Scene Contest

Registration is now open for the Pittsburgh Public Theater’s Shakespeare Monologue and Scene Contest, open to students in fourth through twelfth grades.

Participants prepare a scene or monologue from Shakespeare and present it on stage. All contestants receive a tee shirt and a voucher for two complimentary theater tickets.  Finalists may perform in the Showcase of Finalists on Valentine’s Day at the O’Reilly Theater, downtown.

How can a beginner become familiar with Shakespeare’s plays? How can a student decide on a scene or monologue to perform?
