Cool books for a hot weekend

Summer hasn’t officially started as yet, though with record-breaking temperatures this holiday weekend, it’s going to feel like it.  What to do?!?  Try some of these titles to help cool off!

Simply put, the pool is a great place to be on a hot day.  A little girl and her cat explore just that in Brownie and Pearl Take a Dip

Decisions, decisions . . . watch fireworks or fireflies? . . . lick ice cream cones or frozen pops? . . . flip flops or barefeet?  The rhyming text in Flip Flop has two girls trying to decide . . . personally, I choose barefeet!

Think Cool Thoughts by Pittsburgh’s own Elizabeth Perry, will give you some ideas as to how to handle the hottest of days and nights.

Did you know there are 2, 529 windows in the University of Pittsburgh’s Cathedral of Learning?  Just knowing that might cool you off!  You can find out more in Pittsburgh and the State of Pennsylvania: Cool Stuff Every Kid Should Know

And finally, if you’re not cooled off by now, try Oceans: Dolphins, Sharks, Penguins, and More! published by National Geographic Kids.  The amazing photos of sea creatures in their world will make you feel as though you’re there, too.
