Once Upon a Time . . .

When you hear these words, you’re certain to hear (or read) a good story, and we have LOTS of them in the Children’s Dept!

Take, for example, English Folk and Fairy Tales by Joseph Jacobs.  You might think this is a mild-mannered collection of stories . . . WRONG!  Some of the best (and scariest) are in this collection.

For something funny, try “The Three Sillies” pg. 10, “How Jack Went to Seek His Fortune” pg. 21 or “Master of All Masters” pg. 230.

For those classic tales, “Jack and the Beanstalk” pg. 59, “The Story of the Three Little Pigs” pg. 69, “The Story of the Three Bears” pg. 96 or “Henny Penny” pg. 118.

For the scary ones, “Teeny Tiny” pg. 57, “Molly Whuppie” pg. 130, “The Golden Arm” pg. 143, “Mr. Fox” pg. 153 or “The Strange Visitor” pg. 186.

These stories are great for orally telling or reading aloud.  Try one today!
